Director of Radiology - Fox Chase Cancer Center- Philadelphia, PA

Fox Chase Cancer Center (FCCC) and the Department of Radiology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University invites applications and candidate nominations for the role of Director of Radiology, FCCC. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a nationally renowned NCI designated, top tier cancer institute in Philadelphia, PA. We are particularly interested in individuals with documented achievements in strategic planning, recruitment, faculty development, operations, resource allocation, and related decision-making. Prior leadership and administrative experience is preferred.

Reporting to the Chair of Radiology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, the Director of Radiology will join Temple Faculty Physicians (TFP) and work collaboratively with leadership to advance the mission, vision, and values of the department and organization.

The Director will develop key institutional partnerships and strategic relationships with physicians and administrators and work closely with the Chair of Radiology on strategic planning, performance initiatives, faculty development, operations, resource allocation, recruitment, and retention to build on Fox Chase Cancer Center strengths while being heavily engaged in developing a robust plan for advancement and growth. The Director will also work closely with the residency leadership to cultivate the academic and research missions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide day to day administrative direction and supervision to the Department’s faculty and staff.
• Oversee the quality of imaging reads at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
• Plan effectively for the anticipated demand for clinical services arising from expanding patient volumes, ensuring that facilities, technologies, operations, staffing and outreach activities are sufficient.
• Manage resources prudently and effectively. Work with leadership to consolidate services.
• Create an environment that enhances clinical growth and academic development.
• Communicate effectively and frequently with the clinical and administrative leadership, as well as with the faculty and staff to ensure that strategies and activities of radiology are aligned with the mission, vision and goals of the organization.
• Work with the Chair to recruit, support and mentor faculty at FCCC. Participate in faculty career development plans and retention efforts.
• Ensure that clinical operations are patient-centered, efficient, effective and safe.
• Provide a supportive environment for enabling the Department’s clinical, educational and research missions.
• Insure representation of Radiologist as appropriate in multi-disciplinary care meetings tumor boards, etc. for Fox Chase Cancer Center
• Encourage collaborative work with translational scientists in the health system, at the University and with industry partners.
• Assist in annual reporting, faculty assessments, and recruitment and retention initiatives for the physicians located at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
• Ensure adequate staffing of the section at all times and at all sites, and oversee the development of the daily work and call schedules.
• Organize and oversee the necessary peer-review and quality improvement activities in the department.
• Oversee educational activities of the Department. Coordinate with the Program Directors, as well as integrative to establish, update as needed and maintain a curriculum for residents and medical students.
• Foster an environment of academic excellence: work with Fox Chase members to address, modify and improve teaching methodology for each member when appropriate
• Provide guidance in the selection of appropriate imaging equipment to advance the clinical programs; ensure that each purchase accommodates patient care needs.
• Assist in development of our AI initiatives, vendor selection and adoption at FCCC.

Candidate Qualifications

• Applicants must possess an M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent with board certification in radiology and fellowship training in abdominal imaging. Subspecialty fellowship training in one facet of abdominal imaging will also be considered including MRI fellowship, cross sectional fellowships and ultrasound training.
• Significant knowledge and experience in oncologic imaging, RECIST measurements and working with tumor boards, is also required. Prior experience working in a dedicated NCCN cancer center is strongly preferred.
• Credentials that will support a faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor are preferred
• Candidates with additional pertinent degrees (Ph.D., M.B.A., and M.P.H.) are encouraged to apply.
• Candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Strong ability to work collaboratively with leaders of various entities in the advancement of medical education at the undergraduate medical level as well as GME and CME.
