The MRI Laboratory and Department of Spine Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery invites applications for a full-time fellow (minimum 1-2 years) to join a team of spine surgeons, radiologists, and MRI researchers to conduct and manage research activities on a new multi-disciplinary project at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City. This project involves utilizing specialized MRI processing techniques developed at HSS and translating these to clinical applications for image-guided navigation and robotic spine surgery.
The position is available immediately and the initial appointment is for 1-2 years, with possibility for renewal based on performance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Write and contribute to research study proposals
Author peer-reviewed publications, and present work at clinical and international scientific conferences
Perform advanced image analysis in collaboration with HSS surgeons and radiologists
Present research updates during bi-weekly lab meetings involving surgeons, radiologists, and scientists
Act as research project core team leader from project conception to final testing to manuscript submission
Coordinate and prioritize activities of technical staff and project coordinators
Seek opportunities to author peer-reviewed publications and to present work at academic meetings
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUREMENTS: M.D., Ph.D., or Masters equivalent
