The Department of Radiology at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont (UVM) is seeking a full-time academic Interventional Radiologist. Living in a small college town while practicing 100% Interventional Radiology is a rare opportunity.
Join an academic practice of 50 radiologists including four full-time Interventional Radiologists. The IR section is thriving, and we are hiring to accommodate growth in our practice. The collegial IR section is a stable, cohesive, and democratic group. We have two dedicated IR Physician Assistants as part of the team who perform basic procedures and assist with clinical responsibilities.
Primary job responsibilities include clinical excellence as well as medical student, diagnostic radiology and IR resident education and research. Preference will be given to those applicants with a history of peer reviewed publication and presentation at national and international meetings. Protected academic time is provided for all members of the division. This position has possible leadership opportunities for the appropriate candidate. This is a clinical scholar pathway position at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level. Applicants must have completed an ACGME accredited fellowship or IR residency and must be IR/DR Dual board certified (or eligible). Current Interventional Radiology Residents are encouraged to apply.
We perform all aspects of IR including a busy interventional oncology case mix including SIRT, TACE and ablation procedures. We perform TIPS, biliary interventions, gastric variceal obliteration, prostate artery embolization, PE thrombectomy, arterial interventions, vertebral augmentation, venous access, acute and chronic DVT interventions, UAE, enteral access, dialysis access, biopsies, drainages, pediatric interventions, and many other procedures. We have an admitting service, an inpatient consult service, as well as an established outpatient clinic.
The University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) is a 562-bed tertiary referral center with an onsite children’s hospital and cancer center. UVMMC is a Level 1 Trauma Center and is the only tertiary referral center for the catchment area of Vermont and Northern New York State, offering comprehensive medical and surgical subspecialty care. The Radiology Department and IR section are part of the larger University of Vermont Health Network, comprising five regional hospitals in addition to the University of Vermont Medical Center. The Radiology Department features state of the art equipment provided by a strong relationship with Philips. We have four IR dedicated angiography suites, a procedural CT scanner, and an additional minor procedure room opening soon.
We offer an ACGME approved Independent IR Residency Program for two residents per year, and well as an Early Specialization in IR (ESIR) program for up to two residents per year. The Department of Radiology also runs a Diagnostic Radiology Residency of six residents per year who rotate through our service regularly. Teaching opportunities for those interested also include courses at the undergraduate and graduate level at the University of Vermont.
Research opportunities are plentiful and include a 3.0T dedicated research magnet housed in the Department of Radiology. This magnet is operated by the University of Vermont MRI Center for Biomedical Imaging and is staffed by full time experienced research technologists and MR physicists. A dedicated research team also supports Radiology Health Services Research in collaboration with investigators at UVM.
