UMass Memorial MedicalGroup, the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is seekingafull-time,fellowship trained Abdominal/BodyRadiologist.The Department of Radiology at UMass Memorial Medical Center www.umassmed.edu/radiologyperforms over900,000 studies per year acrossfivehospitalsand an outpatient MRIcenter. Current faculty include65fellowship trained Radiologists, all practicing in organ ormodality-baseddivisions, including a 24/7/365 Emergency Radiology Division. The department trains 5 Residents per year (20 total).UMass Memorial Health is the largest health care system in Central Massachusettswith over 1 million lives in our catchment area.
As the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Radiology faculty have academic appointments at UMass Medical School, with ample opportunity for clinical and/or basic science research. There are extensive opportunities for additional leadership roles at UMass Medical School, as well as opportunities in Health Care Delivery Research, Simulation, Anatomy, and Quality/Safety and Process Improvement that can be tailored to individual's interests and experience.
TheAbdominal ImagingDivision is currently comprised of5full-timeand5part-timefaculty members.All sites are on EPIC and a new enterprise-wide AGFA PACS systemwith TeraRecon image processing software and PowerScribe 360.The division trains 1-2fellow(s)per year,as well asan MRI fellow who devotes25% effort toabdominal imaging.
The division provides a full range of diagnostic services including XR,fluoroscopy, US, CT, and MRI. Imaging services are provided in close collaboration with colleagues in Surgery, Oncology, MedicalSubspecialties, and Primary Care. Therefore, the candidate should haveexcellentcommunication skills with strong diagnostic skillsin interpreting tertiary-level AbdominalRadiologycases.Experience withtransplant ultrasound andadvanced body MRI are required. Proficiency with CT colonographywould be helpful but not required.
US-guided and CT-guided abdominal interventional procedures are performed in coordination with the Interventional Radiology Division. Interest intheseprocedures, includingparacentesis,biopsies,and drainages, is welcome but not required.
