The Body Imaging Division of the Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging at Yale New Haven School of Medicine is seeking a new Division Chief. The Body Imaging division at Yale is composed of two cohesive sections (Ultrasound and Abdominal imaging) whose 19 faculty members provide subspecialty expertise in magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, computed tomography, and fluoroscopy. The division has built up a strong reputation for clinical excellence, academic productivity, innovation, and enviable education/mentoring. Faculty members are committed to teaching at the graduate and post-graduate levels while delivering high-quality clinical care. The breadth of experience among the faculty is reflected in the wide range of academic pursuits enjoyed by the division. The faculty work closely with our referring providers through numerous tumor boards and research collaborations, ensuring the best clinical care for our patients. We are proud to be a part of Yale New Haven Health, an academic health system that extends throughout Connecticut and beyond. In addition to teaching Yale Medical Students and the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Residents, the division hosts two Cross-sectional Imaging fellowship positions (with rotations in Ultrasound, Body CT, Body MR as well as electives), two Body MRI fellowship positions, and one combined Body/Cardiac Imaging fellowship position.
The Department prioritizes every opportunity to promote its faculty through either excellent academic pursuits or strong clinical service. As early pioneers of body imaging, our team consists of innovative leaders and nationally recognized experts in the field. Current areas of academic strength include vascular ultrasound, prostate MRI, hepatobiliary oncological imaging, and MRI safety. With a flourishing body imaging fellowship and one of the largest radiology residencies in the country, the incoming leader will be overseeing a rich environment where medical education, training, and research are developing at the highest level.
The Division Chief will act as the departmental subject matter expert on issues concerning future developments in the field of body imaging. Areas of expertise should include body MR, US, or CT but might also include technological advancements, changes in the landscape of radiology reimbursement, future legislative requirements, Health System policy, as well as upcoming mandates from governing bodies. The Division Chief will remain current on all aspects of body imaging and be able to advise on the best way to address those while working within the confines of the Department’s strategic plan and its mission objectives.
In conjunction with the Yale New Haven Hospital Managers and section chiefs for CT/MR and US, they will also be primarily responsible for defining and enhancing a progressive clinical operational policy for body imaging and applying this effectively across the division.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates should possess the operational skills and leadership vision to successfully guide the division in an academic department that is at the forefront of innovation, education, and research. Candidates should have demonstrated enthusiasm in fostering faculty development and mentoring the next generation of leaders. Desired qualities also include the ability to grow the division in its clinical, educational, and research missions in alignment with broader institutional strategies. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent, a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in abdominal radiology, ABR Board certified and eligible to obtain an unrestricted Connecticut medical license. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments.
