The Yale School of Medicine’s Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging invites applications for a board-certified Interventional Radiologist with fellowship training for a faculty appointment. A strong interest and track record in basic, translational and/or clinical research, education and clinical pursuits is required. Rank will be commensurate with experience and past academic performance, including established history of peer-reviewed original research publications and extra-mural funding.
Yale Interventional Radiology is a state-of-the art academic section which provides the entire spectrum of IR procedures with high-volume oncologic, vascular, transplant, trauma and pediatric IR services. The section is composed of 17 faculty, 7 advanced practice providers and 20 integrated and independent IR residents with access to a wide range of imaging modalities. The practice includes a large tertiary multi-disciplinary hospital (~1500 beds) with an associated NCI-ranked cancer center, 2 affiliated peripheral inpatient hospitals (>500 beds), a VA hospital, 2 out-patient IR facilities and numerous IR clinics. Applicants should be enthusiastic about joining a mutually supportive group of interventional radiology faculty who excel at practicing state-of-the art interventional radiology within an academic environment.

Within the Yale School of Medicine, the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging is a research, teaching, and clinical center of excellence, devoted to providing optimal patient care through excellence in imaging and image guided therapy. The department has a long history as a pioneer in the field of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, and more than 100 years ago, was the first site in the United States to introduce the medical use of X-Rays. As the historical cradle of American radiology, our Department is currently listed nationally as one of the top 5 ranked research institutions as funded by the National Institutes of Health.
New Haven has been home to the university for three centuries. With a population of 130,000 residents and measuring approximately 20 square miles, New Haven is “large enough to be interesting, yet small enough to be friendly.” As a center for business and a mecca for the arts, the city is recognized for its innovation and culture, with great restaurants and a wealth of activities for families and single professionals of all ages. New Haven is also conveniently located between New York and Boston, and both are easily accessible due to the area’s robust rail transit system.
In addition to providing excellent clinical care, the qualified candidate will be expected to expand the academic profile of the program. The candidate is expected to have multi-modality image guidance expertise and be technically proficient in a wide variety of procedures. The applicant is also expected to have a track record demonstrating accomplishments as an independent investigator in original scientific research projects, with a consistent first/last author publication record and evidence of prior intra- and/or extramural funding as a principal or co-investigator. The candidate should have experience with establishing and leading academic-industrial partnerships and be experienced in clinical trial design. The successful candidate should have experience in professional activity in national societies including assignments on professional boards and committees. The applicant should ideally have experience as a scientific reviewer, grant study section participant, and as an academic mentor. Applications from candidates with advanced post-graduate degrees (MD/PHD, MD/MPH) are particularly encouraged.
