The Department of Radiology at UMass Memorial Medical Center www.umassmed.edu/radiology performs over 1MM studies per year across six hospitals and an outpatient MRI center. Current faculty include 62 fellowship trained Radiologists, all practicing in organ or modality-based divisions, including a 24/7/365 Emergency Radiology Division. The department trains 5 Residents per year (20 total). UMass Memorial Health is the largest health care system in Central Massachusetts with over 1 million lives in our catchment area.
As the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Radiology faculty have academic appointments at UMass Medical School, with ample opportunity for clinical and/or basic science research. The Abdominal Imaging Division is currently comprised of 4 full-time and 6 part-time faculty members. All sites are on EPIC and a new enterprise-wide AGFA PACS system with TeraRecon image processing software and PowerScribe 360. The division trains 1-2 fellow(s) per year, as well as an MRI fellow who devotes 25% effort to abdominal imaging.
The division provides a full range of diagnostic services including XR, fluoroscopy, US, CT, and MRI. Imaging services are provided in close collaboration with colleagues in Surgery, Oncology, Medical Subspecialties, and Primary Care. Therefore, the candidate should have excellent communication skills with strong diagnostic skills in interpreting tertiary-level Abdominal Radiology cases. Experience with transplant ultrasound and advanced body MRI are required. Proficiency with CT colonography would be helpful but not required.
This is a diagnostic-only position. However, if the candidate has interest in performing US-guided and CT-guided abdominal interventional procedures, rotation through the Abdominal Interventional service can be arranged in coordination with the Interventional Radiology Division.
