The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC)is seeking two full-time Board Certified or Board Eligible Diagnostic Radiologists. The ideal candidate will be well rounded and comfortable with interpretation of all or most diagnostic radiology modalities (CT, US, MRI, radiographs, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine, etc.) MQSA certification in mammography is a plus but not required for consideration. Case mix is primarily outpatient, will small proportion of inpatient and ER cases. Most common case type is musculoskeletal for active-duty military. Manageable workload completed in half-day modality-based blocks. Home workstation provided, with some tele-work shifts possible. Procedures include arthrograms and GI flouro. The FHCC is a first-of-its-kind partnership between the US Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense (DoD), integrating all medical care into a federal health care facility with a single combined VA and Navy mission: “Readying Warriors and Caring for Heroes.” Your patients will be a mix of both veterans and active-duty military, including recruits at the Great Lakes Naval Base.
Located in North Chicago, Illinois, Lovell FHCC and was established on Oct. 1, 2010, when the former North Chicago VA Medical Center (VAMC) and the former Naval Health Clinic Great Lakes (NHCGL) merged their resources and services. The combined mission of the health care center means active-duty military, their family members, military retirees and other veterans are all cared for at the facility. The health care center ensures that more than 40,000 Navy recruits who transition through Naval Station Great Lakes each year are medically ready to serve, in addition to nearly 67,000 eligible military and retiree beneficiaries from Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin who receive first-rate Comprehensive health care services.
The Lovell FHCC also maintains strong academic affiliations with Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and has a robust medical student and resident program within the facility.
The facility is located less than an hour from downtown Chicago and all the amenities it offers.
