About the role 

A variety of opportunities are available for qualified Mammographers who want to make a positive impact while working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, and supportive team. Positions are immediately available across New Zealand. 

Health New Zealand are looking for Mammographers with an interest in women’s health who are passionate about delivering quality care to our patients. You will play a key role in the delivery of both the symptomatic service and Breast Screen Aotearoa (BSA) national screening programme for the eligible population. We have a collaborative and supportive healthcare system that has an integrated and multi-disciplinary way of working. 

About the Team/Service  

Now is the perfect time to join New Zealand’s national breast screening programme, BreastScreen Aotearoa. Health New Zealand is making major investments in this service, including expanding the free screening age range from 45 - 69 to 45 - 74, and introducing a new ICT system. 

Expanding the age eligibility means: 

• More women will be screened 
• More breast cancers will be detected early
• More lives will be saved!

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, Mammographers collaborate closely with radiologists, nurses, healthcare assistants and other health professionals to deliver high-quality care. 

About you? 

 The successful candidate will:  

• Be an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and motivated individual with an in-depth understanding of Mammography and Breast Imaging, including tomosynthesis 
• Have a New Zealand recognised post graduate mammography qualification which is BreastScreen Aotearoa (BSA) accredited, however, we will also support MIT's who are interested in pursuing Mammography as a subspecialty, and training will be provided for PG cert in Mammography 

• Have registration with the New Zealand MRT Board 

• Hold a current Annual Practising Certificate 

• Perform high quality routine and specialised Mammography whilst maintaining a high standard of patient care.

Salary and benefits 

Medical Imaging Technologists receive 4 weeks of annual leave and 12 paid public holidays, giving you time to explore our beautiful country and raise a family in our diverse communities. Along with your base salary as a Medical Imaging Technologist, you will have ongoing professional development and will work alongside a multi-disciplinary and supportive team. 

• Base scale (steps 1 to 7) - $77K NZD to $108K NZD ($43K USD to $60K USD) 

• Recognition steps (steps 8 to 10) - up to $116K NZD ($65K USD) for advanced practice 

• Senior and leadership roles - may be paid on a separate 19-step scale ranging from $111K NZD to $151K NZD ($62K USD to $84K USD)
