Division Chief of Neurointerventional Radiology UMass Memorial Health & UMass Chan Medical School
The University of Massachusetts Memorial Health System (UMMH) and UMass Chan Medical School seek a dynamic and collaborative leader for the Division Chief of Neurointerventional Radiology.
UMass Memorial Health is the leading health care provider in central Massachusetts, serving a catchment area of approximately 1 million people. UMass Memorial Medical Center is the major academic teaching hospital for UMass Chan Medical School and serves as the regional comprehensive stroke center with American Heart & Stroke association and The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval accreditations, and performs over 700 diagnostic catheter angiograms, over 175 large and medium vessel thrombectomies and over 165 endovascular treatments for intracranial aneurysms per year. The NIR division of three Neuro-interventional radiologists works collaboratively with two endovascular neurosurgeons sharing the clinical responsibilities of the service. In addition, the NIR division performs approximately 100 spine interventions per year and is supported by 6 dedicated APPs. The division has two dedicated Philips Bi-Plane angio suites and has additional access for a third bi-plane suite if needed.
UMass Memorial Health’s Radiology department is comprised of approximately 100 clinical Radiologists and 25 basic science faculty, performing 1.25 million imaging studies per year and trains 9 radiology residents and approximately 10 fellows per year https://www.umassmed.edu/Radiology/.
The Division Chief will lead the integration and expansion of joint clinical services, focusing on optimizing patient outcomes, increasing patient access, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. Key responsibilities include managing neurointerventional procedures for stroke, aneurysms, and spinal vascular conditions, as well as fostering interdisciplinary collaboration with neurosurgery, neurology, emergency medicine, and critical care teams. In addition, the division chief will work closely with the New England Center for Stroke Research (NECStR) https://www.umassmed.edu/necstr/ to help direct stroke and endovascular research; as well as overseeing a varied portfolio of clinical trials research.
This leader will also mentor faculty, residents, and fellows, promote research initiatives, and contribute to the academic mission of UMMH and UMass Chan Medical School. Administrative duties include strategic planning, budgeting, faculty development, and participation in the stroke and neurovascular program leadership.
Candidates must be board certified in Diagnostic Radiology with fellowship training in Neurointerventional Radiology and demonstrate strong leadership and academic accomplishments in a multidisciplinary setting. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of clinical and leadership experience. Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
