Job Summary The Department of Radiology is a 24-hour, seven day a week operation providing imaging services for adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients.
The MR Senior Radiologic Technologist provides technical knowledge and/or coordinates the delivery of MRI services. Under the direction of a qualified physician, this position will operate a variety of equipment including high field strength magnets and support systems with MRI safety as a priority. The MR Senior Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for patient coordination, acquisition, processing, and archiving of all patient data. This position is responsible for training new staff as well as existing staff on new technologies. The incumbent will maintain and operate equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications, reporting all problems appropriately. Incumbent may be required to oversee provision of MRI services and staffing coverage in absence of the MR Supervisor.
The MR Senior Radiologic Technologist is an ARRT licensed technologist who maintains an ARRT sponsored MRI certification and has more than 3 years of MRI experience.
The MR Senior Radiologic Technologist will comply and adhere to department protocols, UCSF policies and procedures, Department of Radiology policies and procedures and other applicable work rules and regulations. Incumbent works independently and under general supervision. The technologist must act with initiative and responsibility to achieve maximum radiographic quality. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in a calm manner even in stressful situations. Incumbent will interact with Radiologist, Clinicians and peers in a cooperative, harmonious manner for maximum effectiveness. Incumbent must be able to perform all job functions deemed by Department of Radiology.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
The Radiology Department is a specialty medical service that offers a wide range of imaging techniques to diagnose and treat a broad range of medical conditions.

Required Qualifications
ARRT approved MRI Certification
BCLS (CPR) Certification
Venipuncture Certification
Graduate of a formal radiology technology training program in an AMA approved school.
Minimum 3 years’ experience with high field magnetic resonance system.
Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts as well as coverage for weekends and holidays.
Flexibility to rotate to other sites when necessary.
Be able to perform 3 of the 6 specialty scans
Cardiac Imaging
Fetal Imaging
Whole body Pediatric scans
Special procedures ( HIFU/DBS etc.)
Pediatric/Adult Anesthesia
Breast Imaging
